One Step
Wow the whirlwind of choices in our life made that we cant deal with anymore. When we get to place of no return. Knowing within that we have to change the situation or suffer devastating consequences. This could be a relationship, a job, an addiction, a way of believing or an identity of self that doesn’t fit anymore. The first step, realizing that what we are doing isn’t working. Seeing that we cant do this alone. Maybe circumstances have gotten to a point that there is no other choice but some sort of intervention.
The anticipation of taking the step to do things in a completely different way causes upset and fear. It can also cause excitement, anticipation and insightfulness. Usually some sort of mixture of all of these things and maybe more. Taking new steps to alter behaviors that are familiar often times causes fear. Fear is a natural response to the hormone fluctuations in the body. The body, mind connection of traumas in the past of failure, rejection or betrayal. Fear can be a warning in our bodies or the push we need to go the next step. If we honor our feelings and encourage the behavior we are looking for, we can move on in the fear. As we see progress in our lives from walking in the fear it diminishes, and loses its power over us. It is replaced with confidence and truth about ourselves.
If there are area in your life that need adjusting, changing, discarding or learning it is just one step away. Take the very next step in your life. If you have a warrant from missing a court date, call the court house. If you have a relationship that is not good for you admit that it needs changing. If you have a drug or alcohol problem go to a meeting. If you have insulted someone and feel conviction for hurting them, apologize. Think of the very next step, thats going to put you on the path you want to be on. I have learned we don’t have to have the whole manual, just the next step in this thing we call life. One step is what changes our world, relationships, health, finances, and self respect.
There is a song that is so near and dear to my heart for this particular reason. Its called : One Step Away
What if you could go back and relive one day in your life all over again
and unmake the mistake that left you a million miles away from you you once knew.
now yesterdays shame keeps saying that youll never get back on track, but what if i told you
your one step away from surrender, one step away from coming home , coming home.
One step that is all it takes to change the trajectory of your life. Your path and choices can always be amended. Is there a step of change that is awaiting you today? Be brave and take it.
